In September, International Sanctuary celebrated 10 years of working with young women and girls escaping human trafficking. Hundreds of lives have been transformed over the past decade and we look forward to many more years of helping our participants on their path to embracing their dignity and self worth
International Sanctuary opened its doors in Kampala, Uganda and welcomed 10 brave young women who were ready to rebuild their lives in the wake of human trafficking. After just 3 months of dedication, learning, and hard work, girls in the Uganda Sanctuary were producing sellable jewelry and generating revenue. They have since welcomed 11 more participants and have become key to our efforts at PURPOSE Jewelry.
Our Sanctuary in Tijuana, Mexico has grown through anti-trafficking partnerships and financial support. We provide encouragement to the local community that is already fighting human trafficking and hope to the many women looking to escape exploitation.
One of our courageous young women who rebuilt her life in the Mumbai Sanctuary completed her third year of law school and will soon be a legal advocate and representative for survivors of human trafficking in India. This is an amazing story and one we hope to replicate again and again around the world.
Two participants in the Orange County, California Sanctuary graduated from our Professional Opportunities for Survivors of Trafficking (POST) program which provides them with training and skills that can lead to better employment opportunities. Congratulations to these two brave women who have set about finding a new path in life.
