Although we reserve this day every year to commemorate achieving our independence, not all Americans today are living in true freedom.
According to the Global Slavery Index, 403,000 people are estimated to be living in conditions of modern day slavery in the United States. They are coerced or forced into unjust situations, exploited for profit and transported all around the country.
